Our product
To complement our unrivalled skills in providing discrete solid contacted assemblies, we have the capability to manufacture solid tapes, bi-metal tapes and tri-metal layered contact tapes.
We manufacture our own contact tapes by two manufacturing processes, resistance welding and hot pressure bonding, each exhibiting unique advantages dependent on application.
Resistance welded tape is commonly used for small and low volume tape manufacture, whereas hot pressure bonded tape is commonly used for larger volumes. Pressure bonding allows the joining of materials that contain Oxides and do not lend themselves to being resistance welded, e.g. Ag/CdO, Ag/SnO and Ag/ZnO which are used in specific applications.
Profile tapes are used to optimise the use of precious metal by using copper as an intermediate layer within a tri-metal tape. This allows the minimum amount of precious metal to be used for contacting, as the copper draws the heat away from the contact interface.
