Tape welding is ideal for applications where a bi-metallic rivet would be too small to effectively produce and insert. Additionally, tape welding is suited towards high value metals such as gold, due to the fact that the amount of precious metal used can be controlled very precisely. P&B offer both bi-metallic tape welded assemblies and tri-metallic tape welded assemblies. Another advantage of this process is that complex contact surface geometries can also be achieved.
Tape welded assemblies are used extensively within the automotive industry due to the consistency of weld quality achieved together with the ability to use environmentally friendly materials such as AgSnO which cannot be welded directly onto carrier strip using the wire welding process.
