>> Assembly Processes - Automatic Rivet Insertion

For customers who cannot move away from the traditional riveting methods, P&B has designed and built their own machinery for automatic rivet insertion.  Improvements within this machinery enable insertion speeds of up to 600 parts per minute. The machinery designed at P&B has paid specific attention to ensuring the optimum contact between the rivet and carrier strip to avoid heat and resistance issues.

This process is very popular with materials that are not easy to weld, such as copper, AgSnO, AgCdO, BeCu.   A solid rivet can be used to create a double headed contact.  The process is ideally suited for attaching a contact to very thin or heat conductive carrier materials where the base material would be susceptible to property changes as a result of a direct welding process – i.e.thermostat springs, relay parts, microswitch moving contacts etc.
