  Due to the ever increasing number of questionnaires that we are receiving from both suppliers, customers and government agencies, we have taken the decision to send a standard policy document as a reply to questions on the environment.  We hope that you will not be offended by this and accept that our staff are primarily employed to ensure customer satisfaction.  We wish for them to be fully engaged in producing highest quality product at the best price and to ensure punctual delivery. We therefore feel that this document should answer most questions, as it has been constructed as a result of analysis of different questionnaires.  Should you however have more particular questions, please feel free to address them to any member of staff.
   
 

P&B does not possess ISO14001.  At this current time there are no immediate plans to apply for this accreditation.  However, as a company we are extremely conscious of the environment and would make the following comments:-
   
 

Materials Used – All metals/plastics purchased by P&B Metal Components are fully re-cycled. All ferrous and non ferrous metals are melted down by our suppliers and are then re-used in various products. All precious metal is equally re-cycled.
   
 

Packaging  - P&B Metal Components is always prepared to use re-cyclable packaging with our customers.  Indeed with the majority of our major customers, this is already the case.  In certain cases this is not avoidable and non-returnable packaging is used.    We entrust the environmentally disposal of such packaging to our customers.  For all incoming goods all packaging is re-used where possible.  Packaging that cannot be re-used is put into re-cycling bins, and dealt with by our re-cycling supplier.
   
  Chemicals – All chemicals we use for cleaning and de-greasing of parts conform with EU Environmental Regulations. We are constantly in contact with our suppliers of such chemicals to ensure that we are using the most environmentally conscious products.  Used chemicals are re-cycled wherever possible.  For chemicals that are not re-cyclable, they are disposed of safely via the supplier of the chemical.
   
 

Office Paper – All non-confidential office documentation is placed in special re-cycling bins and is collected weekly for re-cycling.  All confidential office documentation is incinerated.
   
 

Transportation – Wherever possible we try to consolidate transportation to reduce the number of emissions worldwide.  Unfortunately in the faster moving business climate our customers are demanding more frequent deliveries, results in more transportation and hence greater pollution of the atmosphere. 

The management of P&B is aware of the duties that we have to the environment.  The management also constantly reviews the re-cycling/environmental policies of the company and optimizes these wherever possible.  Energy conservation is equally a key issue to us and is reviewed on a regular basis.
